I think one way I could improve on this assignment would be to create more of a narrative for my story. I have an introduction and an ending, but I feel if I had added just a little bit of narration between interviews, I could have used it to replace some of the more extraneous parts and make the piece flow a little better. For example, I could replace "Do you think print media can be saved?" with "Despite newspapers' dire state, so-and-so thinks there are ways to help fix the problem." I'd just have to avoid editorializing or distorting people's opinion.
Another thing I could have done was to ask more of my subjects WHY they thought newspapers are dying. Some mentioned it in their answers, but it would have been interesting to see if, say, everyone attributed it to the rise of the Internet. I also probably could have asked more people if they felt newspapers could be "saved." I asked some subjects this question, but I didn't ask everyone.
I probably could have also tried to get an interview or two from fellow journalism majors, given how relevant this topic is to our field.
