Tiffany March Final Project Update

Topic: a profile of Miriam Avins, founder of Baltimore Green Space

Interest: I think that instead of profiling Baltimore Green Space as an organization, it would be more interesting to talk to the founder and to ask why she feels so passionately about the idea of green spaces in urban areas, and what kinds of challenges she had to overcome. I want to get at her motivation, beyond why she thinks BSG is a good idea.

Research and Previous coverage: I will familiarize myself with the BGS Web site and read other interviews with Avins, I found several with an initial google search.

Visuals: Various green spaces around the city. I plan to shoot the interview with Miriam Avins standing in front of one of the gardens that is owned by BGS. I will layer still photographs of the gardens over the video at various points.

Audio/Video: I will use a flip cam to record the entire interview, but will also use still photography to supplement the video.

Location: Baltimore

Access issues: I want to visit several of the green spaces and I’m a still little unclear how easy it will be to access them.

People who would be interested: Those who have an interest in urban regeneration, community land trusts, gardening, Baltimore,

Time frame: Will conduct the interview before Thanksgiving and have time to edit by the end of class.

Cost: The cost of gas to/from Baltimore

Media: Video and still photography (audio is from video footage)
