Storycorps: It Came From Outer Space

This is a part of a NPR series called StoryCorps, where average citizens are able to share stories that are both extraordinary and simple, but all touch on something in people's lives. I listened to a couple of these, and each one manages to connect with the listener in some way. It could be a memory, it could be emotion, it all depends on the person.

This particular story is a recollection of a man's family listening to Orson Welles' famous "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast in 1938. I'm sure it sent many families into a panic, but this story really captures the feeling of life flashing before your eyes. It's not long, and it's a simple recording, but I think the whole idea of the series is fun, and they often manage to touch on something historically significant by interviewing the everyday-Joe's out there.
