Annoying Music: NPR Discusses Obnoxious Beatles Cover Songs

NPR's Weekend Edition's host Scott Simon put on a show the morning of September 19th, 2009 that reflected the recent release of remastered Beatles music and Beatles Rockband. As a result of the sudden revamp in Beatles popularity among younger generations, Simon spoke with Jim Nayder of the Annoying Music Show! on Chicago Public Radio about obnoxious covers of classic Beatles music.
This piece is great as it has witty dialogue, Beatles puns and great music references, and most importantly excellent ambient sound of the actual Bealtes covers. Some of these songs are so incredibly bad it's hard to believe that they were once a #1 hit song at all...
As a huge Beatles fan, this show hit home for me as it just goes to show that no one can do it like the Beatles did. No matter how many ways you try, Hey Jude just doesn't sound the same as a cha-cha song. So check it out: although Mission Impossible will never be a great backup to Norwegian Wood, it's songs like these that provide the material for a great radio piece.
